400-HP LS2 6.0L V8 Engine
Inside every great automobile is a great engine. The sixth-generation Corvette is no exception, thanks to its 6.0-liter LS2 V8. This aluminum block powerplant is one of the largest standard engines in Corvette history. It produces an incredible 400 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and a pavement-thumping 400 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4400 rpm. That’s more bottom-end torque than the LS6 engine in the fifth generation Z06 below 4500 rpm. Yet the LS2 engine achieves a remarkable 18 miles per gallon city and 28 miles per gallon highway with the standard six-speed manual transmission.(1) It’s the only 400-horsepower engine in its class that does not incur a federal government gas-guzzler penalty — truly amazing what engineering can do.

What's the proper engine break-in for a new C6?

My '07 Coupe has developed a bad bog again. Last July a dealer updated the programing and the engine was much better until a few weeks ago. The car has the 6 speed paddle shift, which I very seldom use.

It is an amazing engine. I had a C-1 Vette back in the 70's that I had modified to close to 400 HP, I had to use Sunoco Racing fuel & didn't get near the mileage as I'm getting with my 2005 Coupe with the A4. The engineering that went into this engine is amazing. How about the LS-7 in the Z06 and the LS-9 in the ZR1? These are the good old days!!!Smile
