I am approaching the 4K mileage mark and I want to pull off the first oil change. Anybody have some pre-ramps designed to get this ground hugger up off the ground? My metal ramps are way too steep for the C6.

I have looked at that site and also another at Corvetteforum where a guy built his own ramps out of about $60 worth of 2x12 lumber that came out at 6 feet long each.

I have also found some Rhino brand ramps at Wal-Mart that the web site shows a C5 on. The 12,000 lb ones (but not the 8,000 lb ones) are wide enough for the C6 front tire of some 9.5 inches. Does anyone know if the C6 air dam is lower than the C5 one? I have that sneaky feeling that the C6 is lower and the Rhino customer service dodged the answer to me.

The Rhino ramps people dodged a second straight forward question on their 12,000 lb ramps and the C6. So I bought them at Wal-Mart ($33) for a trial. I made some wood pre-ramps to get the Vette up on them and the Rhinos promptly skidded away from the car as I was driving it onto them.

Others have had that same problem. Back to the drawing boards.

I don't have problems with the Rhino ramps. The spoiler drags the ramp, but the ramp deflects like it's supposed to, and since it isn't abrasive (like my driveway) it doesn;t hurt the spoiler.

If you wipe off the dirt from the rubber feet on the underside of the ramps, and ease on the ramps from a slow roll, they don't slide. It you jam the ramps under the wheels and to get up from a standing start it is darn near impossible to get both of the ramps to stay put. I've used mine since I got my old C5 in 1998, and once you get the technique down it's easy.

Okay I pulled off my first oil change yesterday on my C6. I designed some pre-ramps out of two layers of 2 x wood so that the second, top layer actually touched the Rhino ramp surface and lifted up the first layer a bit. This was to load the ramps with some car weight before the wheel actually touched the ramp. I then used wood wedges to taper the 2 x stock to the slope of the ramp. It did not work. The ramps slid forward as soon as the wheels were on the wedges (with all of the car weight too) . I then blocked the ramps to the front of the garage with four feet pieces of 2 x 4. Voila, the ramps couldn't slide and driving up the air dam only just touched ramp plastic. The comments above about cleaning up the rubber pad on the ramp did not work for me. My garage floor is new, smooth concrete with nice black skid marks from the pads! These ramps work well with my wife's front wheel drive Impala. Now to enjoy a year of driving without all this ramp hassle.

Just changed my oil for the first time without my lift. Go figure, I sell my lift then I want to change my oil, duh! Well I couldn't believe how easy it was. I jacked up the left front, took the left front wheel off and right there at arms length was the filter and drain plug. I through a jack stand under the front for safety and drained the pan and removed the filter. I lowered the car to ride height for a good drain, then raised it back up, used the jack stand again, put on a new filter and put the plug back. Put the wheel back on and lowered the car back down. It took 15 minutes!
