Been having some issues with starting the car. I've also had issues with getting automatic shifter to engage park and then come out of park. Been reading a lot of messages on forums and watched videos, decided to just go ahead and replaced the shifter (the whole assembly) with a new one thought that was worth a try part wasn't that expensive actually was around $150 was surprised and came with new boot and shifter knob also.
Car goes into and out of park just fine now, I can hear the clicks like you should now. Car still nothing when you hit the green button. Gauges go all dark like it would normally to start car, but there's no crank.
Here's a couple other things I've done as an FYI. I've looked at the fuses in the hood by the battery, none of them are blown. I've replaced some of the relays also, have seen a video or two guy swears it was the fuel pump relay and his was burned out on side. None of mine are burned, but I replaced it anyways to try as a cheap fix. Also replaced #43 starter relay same result.
I replaced the battery with a really good optima battery (will be upgrading the stereo) but still same result.
I have a new starter switch, will try that but am doubtful. The buttons seem to work just fine, green light comes on, when I press it the gauges go up and then back down so it seems to be "working", the accessory works and off works but no crank.
I've also tried the key fob in the glove box location (both key fobs) actually, same result. For giggles I've also tried resetting the key fob to the car but it definitely recognizes both fobs as Fob 1 and Fob 2 already matched.
I don't get any warnings on the dash like no key fob detected, or shift to park. Speaking of that, car won't start in neutral either as an fyi I've tried that. I also tried a guy said to try starting it, then hit accessory, then hit start again but - nothing.
I have not tried messing with the starter, its difficult because the car won't start I can't get it on blocks. I seriously doubt its the starter and reluctant to tow the car to find out.
I've read that this is a very common issue with C6, but I've yet found anybody who definitively knows what the problem is. If anybody has advice I've love to hear it.
-Until then I'm sidelined :(
