Hello, I just bought a 2007 C-6 convertible with 18,000 miles, and the headlight covers are cracking from the UV from the headlights. Does anyone know if Corvette is working on this problem, or is there any way to eliminate this from happening? Thanks!

Not doubting you, but can you tell us why you believe they are cracking because of UV?  Single cracks, multiple cracks, hairline cracks, sipder-web cracks?  Where are they cracking?  Were they cracked before ou purchased the car?  Any signs of previous paint-work?  Does CarFax show any history of repair?  What about selling dealer records?

Hello, thanks for the response. They are cracking low where the light is most intense, and the cracks are not really noticeable in the daylight. When the lights are on at night and you stand above the covers, you can see several small approximately 1/4" long cracks. Probably 40 hairline cracks in the covers at this time. I looked at a 2005 before I bought this one, and it was very damaged with cracks, so when I looked at the 2007 I purchased I noticed the same thing starting to happen. I own a plastic molding business and I know that Acrylic and Polycarbonate will break down from UV over time. I am just surprised that it has happened so fast on my 2007 with only 18,000 miles. I have not seen any signs of paint work, and the car was GM certified with a carfax report that was clean. This car was a 1 owner garage kept and is immaculate other than this problem. I priced the covers when I was considering the 2005 and they are $982 each from the dealer. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Wouldn't it be a warranty issue?  What does the dealer say?
